Description

Fennel is native to the shores of the Mediterranean. It is very aromatic and has a similar licorice like flavor to anise, but is slightly sweeter.

Fennel is also used in gripe water to help gassy and colicky babies. Some people also chew fennel after a meal to sweeten their breath.

Fennel can be used for making Italian sausage, fish, and vegetables, and even for making dough, breads, cakes, biscuits as well as cheese. Fennel seeds can also be sautéed, stewed, braised or grilled when used to flavor a dish.

Ground fennel can also be used as a rub or marinade when making meats, soups or stews.
