Description
The Sumac bush is native to the Middle East. It produces red berries which are then dried and ground into course powder.
Sumac is also a powerful anti-oxidant and is rich with vitamin C. Native Americans would use the sumac berries to produce a drink called Sumac-ade in order to fight off fevers, the common cold, and even scurvy.
Ground Sumac has a tart and lemony flavor. It makes a great garnish for meats (kabob), fish, chicken, salads, hummus.
